TFNation 2024 – taking place this August in Birmingham, UK – is approaching fast, and to celebrate the 40th anniversary of our favourite transforming robots, we have another stellar voice actor joining our guest roster: please welcome the voice of one and many, David Kaye!
Kaye voiced the incredible Predacon leader, Megatron, during the Beast Wars and follow-up saga Beast Machines. When the Transformers moved into its Unicron Trilogy phase, Kaye continued his evil streak, voicing the big-bads Megatron and Galvatron in the Armada, Energon and Cybertron series.
Famed for villainous characters, Kaye showed he too was capable of great Transformation in 2007, when he switched sides to portray the Autobot hero and franchise leading-bot, Optimus Prime in the fan-favourite series, Transformers Animated.
As if his iconic leader roles weren’t enough, Kaye has also voiced numerous other Transformers over the years, including Lugnut, Grimlock and Warpath in Transformers: Animated; Hardshell in Transformers: Prime; and Hammerstrike and Slashmark in Robots in Disguise.
Truly, no matter when you became a Transformers fan, you will almost certainly know Kaye’s voice!
(And if Transformers is not your thing, somehow, Kaye has also starred in X-Men: Evolution, Ben 10, Inuyasha, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing – and is widely recognised as the narrating voice for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Whew!)
